	R22 PHASE OUT Time Is Running Out Do you own an air conditioning system that is more than 10 years old? If you do, now is the time to consider updating for both logical and ecological reasons. There are lots of reasons for changing, from running costs to tax breaks. But probably the most important reason is that time is running out on the systems serviceability. This is because the most common refrigerant for these systems is R22, which whilst the perfrect refrigerant for comfort cooling systems it has been shown to have ozone depleting potential. European Legislation in 2000, banned a large number of ozone depleting refrigerants including HCFC R22. The manufacture of equipment using R22 was discontinued between 2001 and 2004. The legislation stated that installed systems may be serviced using R22 until January 2010, after which only recycled R22 can be used. However it is important to note that these dealdlines are currently under review and service bans could actually come into effect much sooner, renderingall R22 systems effectively obsolete. With their increasingly limited life, air conditioning systems that use R22 are set to become problems. Maintenance will soar as replacements parts become scarcer. Importantly real estate attracted premium prices that benefit will be reduced if R22 systems remain installed. We think it is well worth taking the next 6 to 12 months to consider a review of all existing plant with a view of changing existing systems over a longer period as opposed to all in one go.

	BESCA Change in legislation As you may be aware changes to legislation have now come into effect, and it is now illegal to supply and install air conditioning sytsems without either informing your local coucil buidling control or using a competant and qualified company. Ambient Control Ltd were only the 2nd company in the country to undertake the critical assessments required. Which enables us to design / quote / supply and install systems without having to go down the building control route. 	MAJOR PROJECT FINISHED BEFORE TIME AND ON BUDGET FOR LONDON CLUBS Ambient Control Ltd have just finished a large replacement project for London Clubs, this involved the removal of two old and inefficient chiller and two belt driven circulating pumps and the installation of a new Daikin 440kW twin screw chiller and new direct drive Grunfoss circulating pumps. Ambient Control Ltd undertook all aspects of the project including builders works and mains electrics. The project was not only finished on time and on budget, but importantly the new equipment will save London Clubs a significant amount of money on maintenance and running costs.
